White House Unveils Retro-Style Arcade Amidst Copyright Controversy

Sat, Sep 5, 2026(2h ago)World

The White House recently launched a new digital arcade featuring a collection of 1980s-inspired video games designed to promote various aspects of Donald Trump’s political agenda. The platform includes titles that task players with tasks such as navigating the National Mall as a bald eagle, managing school lunches, and populating investment accounts for children. Among the games is "Build the Wall," a title that uses block-stacking mechanics to fend off what the game describes as a "zombie border siege," alongside "Rio Run," which depicts players patrolling a river to intercept figures representing immigrants.

Following the site's release, the Tetris Company issued a firm statement clarifying that they had no involvement in the creation of the "Build the Wall" game. Asserting that they take copyright infringement matters very seriously, the company emphasized that their brand is built on the values of connection and bringing people together rather than division. While the White House continues to promote the arcade as a way to engage the public, the inclusion of Tetris-style mechanics without authorization has sparked a notable pushback from the iconic gaming franchise.
