Saudi-Malaysian Intelligence Collaboration Leads to Major Ketamine Seizure

Sun, Sep 6, 2026(1h ago)World

A joint security operation between Saudi Arabia and Malaysia has successfully thwarted a major smuggling attempt, resulting in the seizure of over 500 kilograms of ketamine. The Malaysian Royal Customs Department’s Anti-Narcotics Unit intercepted the massive haul after receiving actionable intelligence from the Saudi Ministry of Interior. Brig. Gen. Talal bin Shalhoub, the security spokesperson for the Saudi ministry, commended the collaboration, noting that the success of the operation underscores the kingdom's dedication to dismantling transnational criminal syndicates and protecting global communities from the dangers of the illicit drug trade.

This successful interdiction is part of a broader regional push by Gulf nations to intensify their anti-narcotics efforts. Across the region, countries like Kuwait and the UAE have ramped up surveillance and enforcement, leading to a surge in high-profile arrests and drug confiscations. From dismantling local marijuana cultivation rings in Kuwait to intercepting organized trafficking gangs connected to overseas syndicates in the UAE, authorities are demonstrating a zero-tolerance policy toward drug-related crimes. These ongoing crackdowns highlight a unified commitment to strengthening border security and regional cooperation to curb the flow of illegal substances.
