Modeled after Europe’s popular Schengen scheme, this initiative will allow international visitors to travel seamlessly across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait using a single permit. While Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi did not provide a specific release date or pricing details, he emphasized during the Security and History Dialogue in Riyadh that the project is actively moving forward, signaling a major milestone for regional tourism integration.

Beyond the tourist visa, the GCC is aggressively pursuing other infrastructure projects to simplify cross-border movement. A notable example is the new “one-point” air travel pilot program between the UAE and Bahrain, which utilizes biometric verification to allow travelers to clear immigration before departure, bypassing arrival checks entirely.
