Escalation in Saudi-Houthi Conflict Results in Multiple Injuries

Tue, Sep 8, 2026(2h ago)World

Tensions between the Saudi-led coalition and Yemen’s Houthi rebels have reached a critical point following a series of coordinated strikes on Saudi Arabian territory. The coalition reported that at least 73 people were wounded during attacks targeting key civilian and economic hubs, including the cities of Abha, Jazan, Najran, and Khamis Mushait. Describing the strikes as a "dangerous escalation," coalition spokesperson Colonel Turki al-Malki vowed a firm and operational response to neutralize the Houthi militia’s hostile actions.

The strikes extended to energy infrastructure, leading to fires at several facilities in the kingdom's southern region and causing temporary operational disruptions. Beyond the impact on land-based installations, officials expressed deep concern over the ongoing threats to international maritime security, specifically citing the targeting of commercial vessels in the Red Sea. Saudi authorities are currently working to secure the affected sites and provide medical support to those injured, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to condemn the attacks as a direct violation of regional stability and economic security.
