Global Leaders Condemn Ben-Gvir’s Mistreatment of Detainees
A coalition of foreign ministers from the UAE, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar has issued a stern condemnation regarding the treatment of Gaza-bound flotilla participants currently held in Israeli custody. The group labeled the actions led by extremist Israeli Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir as “appalling and degrading,” arguing that his public humiliation of detainees constitutes a blatant violation of international human rights and humanitarian law. By stripping away the dignity of these individuals, the ministers contend that such behavior undermines the fundamental obligations Israel is expected to uphold.
Beyond the immediate mistreatment of the detainees, these nations have expressed deep concern over a broader pattern of incitement and extremist rhetoric from Israeli officials. The ministers warned that Ben-Gvir’s persistent provocations are fueling regional instability and actively sabotaging the possibility of a two-state solution. Consequently, they are calling for urgent accountability, urging the international community to take concrete steps to curb these hostile actions and ensure that the rights and safety of those in the Occupied Palestinian Territories are protected from further abuse.
