Legendary Actor Nana Patekar Passes Away at 75
The Indian film industry is in mourning following the passing of veteran actor Nana Patekar, who died at the age of 75 after suffering a severe cardiac arrest in Goa. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals at Manipal Hospital, who spent nearly an hour attempting to resuscitate him, the acclaimed performer could not be saved. Dr. Shekhar Salkar confirmed that the actor had alerted a friend to his failing health in the early hours of the morning, but his condition deteriorated rapidly before help could arrive.
In recognition of his monumental impact on both Marathi theater and the broader Hindi cinema landscape, the Maharashtra government has announced that Patekar will be laid to rest with full state honors. Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar led the tributes, praising the actor’s incredible journey from his humble beginnings in Yeola to becoming a household name. Throughout his prolific career, which began with the 1978 film "Gaman," Patekar delivered iconic performances in classics like "Parinda," "Krantiveer," and "Ab Tak Chhappan," leaving behind a legacy of raw talent and dedication that will be remembered by generations of fans and colleagues alike.
