Tragedy at Riyadh Airport: Three Dead Following Targeted Attack

Fri, Oct 9, 2026(1h ago)World

On October 8, a violent attack struck King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, resulting in the tragic deaths of three Saudi citizens. Among those lost was Captain Hamoud Ali Alkalthami, a respected pilot for the national carrier, Saudia. The airline issued a heartfelt tribute to his legacy and dedicated service, while the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) confirmed that several other citizens and foreign residents suffered injuries ranging from minor to critical. Emergency response teams were quickly deployed to the scene to transport the injured to local hospitals for urgent medical attention.

The assault caused notable physical damage to airport infrastructure and at least one parked Saudia aircraft, which fortunately was empty at the time. Following the incident, authorities launched immediate recovery protocols to manage the aftermath and support the affected families. By 6:00 PM the same day, aviation officials reported that all emergency procedures had been successfully executed, and normal flight operations at the airport were officially restored.
