Cockroach Janta Party Leaders Released After Preventive Detention
Following their recent preventive detention, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, alongside senior leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, has been released from custody. Ratna Singh, the party's legal head, confirmed their release from the Delhi Cantt Police Station, noting that the Executive Magistrate granted the order on the condition that they maintain public peace for the next year. The Delhi Police stated that the process concluded after the required legal formalities were completed, including the submission of a Rs 50,000 bail bond. The trio had been intercepted at the airport just before the planned October 10 protests, which called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The detention occurred amidst a massive security operation in the national capital, which saw the shutdown of 45 Metro stations and the deployment of armed forces to quell dissent. The crackdown led to the temporary detention of numerous high-profile individuals, including political leaders and public figures, all of whom were reportedly released by late that evening. Despite these efforts to suppress the demonstrations, the CJP and various youth groups remain undeterred. As organizers pivot to new strategies and locations, the movement is bracing for further demonstrations, with the INDIA bloc also signaling plans for continued mobilization in the coming days.
