UAE Calls for Unified Gulf Defense Following Attacks on Saudi Arabia
Dr. Anwar Gargash, the Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, has issued a stern warning that the recent surge in attacks against Saudi Arabia represents a threat to the entire Gulf region. Highlighting the deadly assaults on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, which claimed 18 lives and caused significant flight disruptions, Gargash emphasized that the security of Gulf nations is fundamentally intertwined. He argued that these strikes are part of a misguided effort by aggressors to exploit what they perceive as the region’s weak points, underscoring that no country in the Gulf is immune to these dangers.
In response to the escalation, Gargash is advocating for a renewed focus on collective security and defense mechanisms among Gulf states. He acknowledged that past shortcomings in coordinated regional efforts have emboldened hostile actors, making it imperative to revitalize joint action immediately. As tensions continue to rise due to the spillover effects of the broader regional conflict, the UAE official stressed that safeguarding the Gulf is a shared responsibility that requires urgent, unified, and decisive action to prevent further destabilization.
