Hormuz Drone Strike: Indian Union Demands Answers for Missing Crew
The Forward Seamen's Union of India (FSUI) has issued an urgent plea for information regarding two Indian sailors who vanished following a drone attack on the MT Petro Dolphin. The incident, which occurred near Oman’s Sohar Anchorage on October 11, has left families in distress as the union pushes for clarity on the whereabouts of Bir Bahadur Yadav and Amit Singh. While 11 Indian crew members were onboard the Nicaragua-flagged tanker at the time of the strike, the whereabouts of these two individuals remain unknown, prompting the union to voice serious concerns regarding the safety of merchant mariners navigating the volatile Strait of Hormuz.
In response, the Indian Embassy in Oman and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) are actively coordinating with local authorities and ship management companies to locate the missing men. The MEA also noted a separate incident involving the Marshall Islands-flagged MT Valthera, which caught fire after being hit by a projectile, though fortunately, all 11 Indian sailors on that vessel were reported safe. As tensions continue to rise in the region, the Indian government has condemned these assaults on commercial shipping, emphasizing that such attacks threaten maritime security and call for an immediate diplomatic resolution to ensure the freedom of navigation through these critical international waters.
