Two Filipinos Injured in Riyadh Airport Attack
Two Filipino workers are currently receiving treatment in intensive care units following a deadly assault on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport on October 10. Hans Leo Cacdac, Secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), confirmed that while no Filipinos were among the 12 fatalities reported by Saudi authorities, these two individuals are recovering from injuries sustained during the strike. Officials from the Migrant Workers Office and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration are closely monitoring their progress and providing the necessary support.
The attack, which marks the third such incident at the airport in just one week, resulted in 309 injuries and significant property damage. In response to the heightened security situation, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate General in Jeddah have issued urgent safety advisories to the roughly 865,000 Filipinos residing in the Kingdom. Citizens are being urged to remain vigilant, strictly adhere to local safety directives, and avoid sharing unverified information. Philippine diplomatic missions in the region continue to function normally and have provided dedicated emergency contact lines for any nationals requiring immediate consular assistance.
