Escalating Houthi Attacks on Saudi Infrastructure Result in Casualties
The conflict between the Saudi-led coalition and Houthi rebels has intensified significantly, with the coalition reporting a surge in aggressive strikes against civilian targets. According to spokesperson Turki Al Maliki, Houthi forces have launched 20 separate attacks against Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport this month alone, a campaign that has tragically claimed 17 lives and left hundreds more injured. Beyond the capital, the coalition reported that assaults on Abha airport near the Yemeni border have resulted in further casualties, marking a dangerous escalation that threatens both regional stability and international aviation hubs.
Al Maliki strongly condemned these actions, labeling them as cowardly terrorist acts that deliberately target innocent civilians and holy sites, including potential threats to Makkah and Madinah. The coalition claims that the Houthis are utilizing advanced military technology supplied by regional actors to conduct these operations. In response, the coalition has launched a series of counter-strikes, destroying 127 weapon storage facilities and launch platforms across Yemen. While the coalition maintains that its air defense systems remain highly effective at thwarting these incursions, they continue to urge the Houthi militia to cease all hostilities, even as the rebels vow to keep Saudi airspace dangerous for commercial travel.
