Miraculous Escape as Missiles Strike Near Yemen Airport
A major disaster was narrowly avoided at Aden International Airport on Friday after two missiles launched by Houthi forces struck near a departing passenger plane. Yemen’s Minister of Information, Moammar Al Eryani, described the incident as a case of "divine providence," noting that the projectiles landed just 500 meters from a Yemenia Airlines flight bound for Cairo and only 100 meters from the center of the runway. While the airport complex was rocked by the blasts, authorities confirmed that all passengers and crew members remained safe, and no casualties were reported.
This aggressive act marks the second time the airport has been targeted in less than a week, escalating the ongoing volatility in the region. Although the Houthis have claimed responsibility for the strike, they alleged that their military objectives were the Saudi-led coalition’s command headquarters and a weapons depot at the nearby Badr camp. As the conflict between the Houthi movement and the internationally recognized Yemeni government continues to intensify, this near-miss serves as a sobering reminder of the grave risks posed to civilian travel in the war-torn nation.
