Clarifying the Truth Behind Viral Videos Linked to Makkah Executions
Recent social media reports have falsely linked a viral video to the execution of two Bangladeshi nationals in Saudi Arabia. The individuals, identified by the Saudi Ministry of Interior as Nazrul Islam Abdul Basir and Siti Akhtar, were executed on October 14 following charges related to an indecent act committed within a mosque in Makkah. While the Saudi authorities confirmed the executions to uphold the sanctity of holy sites and enforce Islamic law, they did not release specific details or footage regarding the incident.
In the wake of the official announcement, an unrelated video showing a man and a woman near the Al Hajar Al Aswad at the Kaaba began circulating online, with many users incorrectly claiming it depicted the offenders. The official "The Holy Mosques" account on X quickly intervened to debunk these claims, confirming that the footage is entirely misleading and bears no connection to the execution. As of now, there has been no formal response or statement from the Bangladeshi embassy regarding the situation.
