Qatar to End Automatic Visa Extensions Starting June 7

Fri, May 29, 2026(45d ago)World

Starting June 7, 2026, Qatar will officially discontinue its policy of automatically extending expired or nearly expired entry visas. This change marks a return to standard immigration protocols following a period of flexibility introduced back in March. The previous measures were implemented by the Ministry of Interior to assist travelers stranded in the country after airspace closures resulting from regional instability made travel impossible for many visitors.

With the resumption of normal operations, the government is requiring all residents and visitors to adhere strictly to the standard guidelines, which include paying applicable renewal fees and maintaining valid legal status. The Ministry has issued a clear advisory urging individuals to check their visa expiry dates immediately. Anyone whose visa is reaching its limit must either complete the necessary renewal process or exit the country to avoid facing fines and legal penalties for overstaying their permitted duration of stay.
