US Targets Iranian Drone Facilities in Recent Defensive Strikes
Over the weekend, the United States military carried out a series of targeted "self-defense strikes" against Iranian radar and drone control facilities located at Goruk and Qeshm Island. According to a statement released by US Central Command on X, the operation was initiated in direct response to Tehran’s decision to shoot down a US MQ-1 drone that had been conducting routine operations over international waters.
In retaliation, American fighter jets successfully neutralized key Iranian air defense components, a ground control station, and two explosive-laden drones. Military officials have confirmed that no US personnel were injured during the engagement. This exchange marks an escalation in recent regional tensions, following a week of tit-for-tat military actions that included Iranian strikes on a US airbase and subsequent American operations aimed at disrupting drone activities near the Strait of Hormuz.
