The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has been actively enforcing food safety regulations, shutting down several businesses for violating Food Law No. (2) of 2008. One of the most recent closures was that of Mohammed Akhtar Supermarket in the Musaffah Industrial Area, which was found to have committed high-risk violations affecting food safety. These violations included the spread of insects and displaying untagged products, leading to a significant risk to public health.
Earlier in February, ADAFSA also closed a supermarket in Al Khalidiyah, known as Save Way, due to similar violations. This closure was part of a broader effort by ADAFSA to ensure compliance with food safety standards across Abu Dhabi. In addition to supermarkets, other establishments like cafes have faced closures for failing to meet these standards. For instance, Emirates Cafe was shut down on February 20 for violating food safety regulations.
ADAFSA’s actions underscore the importance of maintaining strict food safety protocols to protect consumer health. The authority encourages the public to report any observed violations by contacting the Abu Dhabi Government’s toll-free number.
