Adele Shestovskaya, a nine-year-old Finnish girl battling kidney cancer, had always dreamed of visiting Dubai. Her fascination with the city’s stunning skyline and sun-kissed beaches, often admired through social media, became a reality thanks to the efforts of Dubai’s officials. Under the guidance of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, an unforgettable trip was arranged for Adele and her family.
The trip was meticulously overseen by Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai. From their arrival at Dubai International Airport, Adele and her family were treated to a specially crafted experience. They were greeted by GDRFA officers and Dubai’s travel mascots, ‘Salem’ and ‘Salama’, designed to make immigration processes smoother for young travelers. At the children’s passport control counter, they even got to stamp their own passports, setting a joyful tone for their visit.
During their stay, the family was accommodated at Jumeirah Beach Residence, where they enjoyed the scenic beauty of Dubai’s beaches. Adele’s tour was filled with unique experiences, including exploring a natural reserve, marveling at the futuristic exhibits at the Museum of the Future, and wandering through The Lost Chambers Aquarium in Atlantis, The Palm. Officials also ensured that Adele’s healthcare needs were prioritized in collaboration with Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital.
Lieutenant General Al Marri emphasized Dubai’s commitment to caring for children with illnesses, reflecting the city’s dedication to enhancing visitor happiness. The farewell gathering on their final evening highlighted the collective effort by various partners, including Dubai Airports and the Museum of the Future. Adele’s father, Vitaly Shestovsky, expressed deep gratitude for the exceptional hospitality and care they received, noting that the experience had a profoundly positive impact on Adele’s well-being.
As they departed, the family carried with them not just souvenirs but memories of a city that opened its doors to make a young girl’s dream come true. Their visit was a testament to Dubai’s warmth and generosity, leaving a lasting impression on Adele and her family.
