Dubai Future Foundation has taken a significant step forward in reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global hub for innovation by announcing funding for 24 research projects. These projects, selected from 13 universities and academic institutions, are part of the Dubai Research, Development, and Innovation Grant Initiative. The initiative aims to foster future-focused innovation, aligning with Dubai’s strategic vision to become a leader in technological advancements and scientific research.
The funded universities include prominent institutions such as the University of Dubai, Canadian University Dubai, and Zayed University, among others. This diverse range of institutions underscores the initiative’s commitment to inclusivity and collaboration across different academic disciplines. The projects were chosen from a pool of 374 submissions by 41 universities, highlighting the initiative’s popularity and the eagerness of academic communities to contribute to Dubai’s innovative ecosystem.
The research projects focus primarily on two key areas: Cognitive Cities and Health and Life Sciences. These areas are supported by cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, which are crucial for driving innovation in these fields. The involvement of 43 local and international academic institutions from 16 countries further emphasizes the initiative’s global reach and collaborative spirit.
Around 219 researchers have benefited from the funding in the first round, providing them with the necessary resources to explore new ideas and develop groundbreaking projects. This support not only enhances the researchers’ capabilities but also contributes to Dubai’s broader goal of becoming a hub for future-focused innovation.
