As Ramadan brings Muslims together in mosques across the globe, Dubai has recently inaugurated a new mosque in the Dubai Marina area. This mosque, named after the late Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, boasts a capacity of 1,647 worshippers, including 1,397 men and 250 women. Inspired by Ottoman art, the mosque’s design reflects a blend of traditional aesthetics and modern functionality. It spans 5,021.31 square meters and features a courtyard, ablution areas, parking spaces, and prayer halls designed to the highest standards. The mosque also includes designated areas for people of determination, making it a model for contemporary mosques catering to diverse community needs.
The inauguration of this mosque marks a significant step in Dubai’s urban development, highlighting the emirate’s commitment to enhancing religious infrastructure. This aligns with Dubai’s broader strategy to accommodate its growing population while ensuring high-quality services for both worshippers and visitors. The mosque’s modern facilities are designed to provide comfort and accessibility, reflecting Dubai’s innovative approach to religious spaces.
In addition to this new mosque, Dubai is also pioneering innovative mosque construction with its first 3D-printed mosque, set to open in 2026. This project, designed by JT+Partners, will cover 2,000 square meters and accommodate up to 499 worshippers. It showcases Dubai’s embrace of cutting-edge technology and sustainable materials in religious architecture.
Dubai’s mosque expansion is part of a larger initiative to increase worshipper capacity and enhance religious services. The city plans to build 55 new mosques, increasing capacity by 40,961 worshippers. This expansion reflects Dubai’s commitment to blending tradition with innovation, ensuring that its religious spaces are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
As Dubai continues to evolve its religious infrastructure, it is also focusing on sustainability.
