The department conducted 54 seizures involving 10.8 million counterfeit items, reinforcing Dubai’s investment environment by safeguarding producers from brand counterfeiting losses. This effort aligns with Dubai’s broader economic objectives, as outlined in the D33 Economic Agenda, which aims to enhance the emirate’s commercial sector.

Dubai Customs’ success is attributed to its advanced training programs for staff and inspectors, equipping them with skills to efficiently detect counterfeiting and piracy. The department also leverages cutting-edge inspection technologies and smart IT applications to optimize operational effectiveness. These innovations have contributed to a robust customs system, with notable increases in handled cargo, passenger bags, and processed passengers.

In addition to its IP protection efforts, Dubai Customs has seen substantial growth in foreign trade, with sea freight increasing by 23%, land freight by 21%, and air freight by 11.3% in 2024 compared to the previous year. This growth is supported by Dubai’s extensive international network. The authority also reported a remarkable 49.2% increase in customs data in 2024.

Dubai Customs’ achievements have been recognized globally, with the department receiving prestigious awards for its excellence. It was ranked first globally in the Platinum Classification Index by IdeasUK Organization for the fifth consecutive year and secured second place globally in the “Big Idea of the Year” category for health and safety innovation.

The department’s commitment to innovation and excellence is evident in its projects and initiatives, completing 55 out of 84 projects in 2024. This progress supports Dubai’s economic vision, aligning with the objectives set by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
