Free Iftar Meals for Dubai’s Unsung Heroes

As Ramadan approaches, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai is launching a series of initiatives to support the community, particularly low-income individuals and essential workers. This year, bus drivers, labourers, delivery riders, truck drivers, and those in need will receive free Iftar meals at strategic locations such as RTA headquarters, metro stations, and marine transport hubs. The ‘Iftar Saem’ initiative, in collaboration with Beit Al Khair Society, and the ‘Meals on Wheels’ programme are key components of this effort. The latter will commence in the second week of Ramadan, targeting drivers and commuters at labour accommodations and abra stations.

At metro stations alone, 5,000 Iftar meals will be distributed, accompanied by special kiosks offering symbolic gifts to labourers. Abdullah Al Ali, CEO of the Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector at RTA, highlighted that these initiatives reflect RTA’s values of tolerance, collaboration, and teamwork. They also align with the UAE leadership’s vision for 2025 as ‘The Year of Community’. Additionally, RTA will launch the ‘Ramadan Rations’ initiative on Zayed Humanitarian Workday, providing essential food supplies to low-income families via Nol cards.

RTA has also planned activities for its employees, including group Iftars and support for low-income staff members through Ramadan Rations vouchers. These efforts underscore RTA’s commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment during Ramadan. The initiatives are part of a broader programme featuring 20 community events and charitable activities, aiming to bring the community together and support those in need.

The RTA’s Ramadan initiatives are designed to benefit a wide range of individuals, from essential workers to low-income families. By providing meals and support, RTA aims to ease the challenges faced during the holy month. The distribution of Nol cards as part of the ‘Ramadan Rations’ initiative will further assist families by facilitating access to essential supplies.

Overall, RTA’s efforts during Ramadan 2025 demonstrate a strong commitment to community welfare and social responsibility, aligning with the UAE’s broader vision for community development and support.
