Jumeirah Village Circle Sees 70% Faster Commutes

In a significant move to enhance Dubai’s infrastructure, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Holding have signed a substantial AED 6 billion agreement. This partnership aims to improve road infrastructure across key development areas in the emirate, focusing on enhancing connectivity, reducing travel times, and increasing the capacity of entry and exit points. The agreement targets several major developments, including Dubai Islands, Jumeirah Village Triangle, Palm Gateway, Al Furjan, Jumeirah Park, Arjan, Majan, Liwan (Phase 1), Nad Al Hamar, Villanova, and Serena.

Specifically, the agreement will develop bridges and roads to improve access points for five key Dubai Holding developments: Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai Production City, Business Bay, Palm Jumeirah, and International City (Phase 3). For Jumeirah Village Circle, four additional access points will be developed with grade-separated interchanges, doubling the area’s entry and exit capacity and reducing travel time by 70 per cent. New bridges will also be constructed to improve access to Dubai Production City from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, reducing travel time and enhancing traffic flow by 50 per cent.

In Business Bay, surface improvements at intersections from Sheikh Zayed Road and a pedestrian bridge at the intersection with First Al Khail Road will enhance pedestrian safety and optimize traffic flow. Upgrades to internal roads in the Towers Area will reduce travel time by 30 per cent. Palm Jumeirah will see additional acceleration and deceleration lanes and two pedestrian bridges, reducing travel time by 40 per cent. Lastly, International City (Phase 3) will benefit from a new lane and widened internal roads, reducing travel time from 15 minutes to five minutes.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of RTA, emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships to enhance road infrastructure, ensuring seamless mobility and improved road safety. This agreement aligns with Dubai’s vision to support urban expansion and improve mobility across the emirate.
