Sheikh Hamdan Honors Young Muezzins in Dubai Ceremony

In a heartwarming display of talent and tradition, a young boy named Nahyan Abdullah Abu Kadra Al Falasi delivered the Maghrib call to prayer at Dubai’s prestigious Za’abeel Palace. This moment was not only a testament to Nahyan’s gifted voice but also highlighted the UAE’s commitment to nurturing young talents who embrace the country’s deep-rooted Islamic heritage.

Nahyan’s visit to the palace was part of the “Muezzin Al Freej” initiative, which translates to “The neighbourhood’s caller to prayer.” This program aims to strengthen family roles in fostering national identity and instilling social and Islamic values in new generations. It selects the best voices for reciting the call to prayer among children aged between 6 and 21 years old, thereby fostering a connection between children and mosques.

The initiative has garnered significant attention, with over 300 young Emiratis participating in its first edition in 2024. The Dubai Media Office shared a video of Nahyan’s call to prayer, which has been widely appreciated. This gesture reflects Dubai’s leadership in celebrating Emirati heritage, as Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum welcomed Nahyan at the palace. Their recognition and encouragement of young Emiratis who take pride in their faith and traditions have been widely praised.

The “Muezzin Al Freej” initiative underscores the UAE’s dedication to preserving its cultural and religious traditions while empowering the younger generation. By involving children in such meaningful roles, the initiative helps build a strong sense of community and national identity. The participation of young Emiratis like Nahyan not only showcases their talent but also reinforces the importance of Islamic values in modern society.

The event also highlights the role of Dubai’s leadership in promoting cultural and religious heritage. The support from prominent figures like Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikh Hamdan emphasizes the significance of recognizing and nurturing young talents who embody the country’s traditions. This approach not only enriches the cultural landscape of the UAE but also inspires a sense of pride and belonging among its citizens.
