Anticipating the iPhone 18 Pro: Major Upgrades on the Horizon

Thu, Jul 2, 2026(45d ago)Technology

While the official unveiling is still months away, early buzz surrounding the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max suggests some of the most significant design shifts we’ve seen in years. Apple is reportedly testing under-display Face ID technology, a move that could finally shrink the iconic Dynamic Island and reduce the front-facing cutout to a minimal hole-punch camera. Beyond the display, the Pro models are expected to feature a more refined rear aesthetic with a smoother camera module integration and a palette of new, sophisticated colors like deep burgundy and coffee-inspired browns to set the premium tier apart.

Under the hood, the upcoming flagship is shaping up to be a performance powerhouse, powered by the A20 Pro chip built on an advanced 2nm process. Photography enthusiasts have plenty to look forward to as well, with rumors pointing toward a new 48MP variable aperture lens that promises professional-grade control over depth and lighting. To support these demanding features, Apple is reportedly increasing the battery capacity of the Pro Max to 5,100mAh, which may result in a slightly thicker and heavier build. As the expected September 2026 launch date approaches, these hardware enhancements appear poised to make the iPhone 18 series a substantial upgrade for long-term users.
