Building Resilience: ADNOC and Global Energy Leaders Prioritize Stability Amid Market Shifts
At this year’s Adipec, senior leaders from the global energy sector gathered to emphasize that the industry must shift its focus from pure operational efficiency to long-term resilience. Musabbeh Al Kaabi, CEO of Upstream at ADNOC, stressed that recent market volatility has highlighted the necessity of protecting employees, maintaining supply continuity, and building robust contingency plans. Rather than optimizing solely for maximum output, energy giants are now rethinking their infrastructure and operational models to ensure they can withstand unexpected global disruptions.
The panel, which included heads from OMV and INPEX, underscored that enduring success relies heavily on trust, deep-rooted international partnerships, and strategic diversification. As shipping and logistics costs continue to rise—now accounting for a significantly larger portion of the total cost per barrel—executives argued that diversifying supply routes is critical for energy security without abandoning established, reliable relationships like those with the UAE. Furthermore, the integration of artificial intelligence into subsurface analysis and production management is becoming a key tool for these companies to navigate future demand while maintaining a competitive edge in a complex, unpredictable global market.
