What to Expect from the iPhone 18 Pro: Key Rumored Upgrades

Thu, Jul 2, 2026(1h ago)Technology

The upcoming iPhone 18 Pro lineup is shaping up to be a substantial leap forward, with Apple reportedly refining both aesthetics and internal hardware. One of the most anticipated visual changes is a significantly smaller Dynamic Island, achieved by relocating Face ID components beneath the display. Additionally, Apple appears to be moving away from the controversial two-tone back design seen in previous models, opting for a more cohesive blend of aluminum and glass. Rumors also suggest that the company is experimenting with a striking new "Dark Cherry" colorway, building on the bold aesthetic trends established by recent Pro releases.

Beyond the visuals, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to prioritize performance and utility, starting with a long-awaited variable aperture camera for professional-grade depth-of-field control. Battery life is also seeing a boost, as reports indicate the Pro Max will feature a slightly thicker chassis to house a larger power cell. Other functional improvements include a simplified Camera Control button—stripping away complex touch sensors for a more intuitive user experience—and the debut of Apple’s proprietary C2 modem. Designed to be more power-efficient than previous Qualcomm alternatives, the C2 modem should further extend the device's endurance, rounding out a suite of upgrades aimed at delivering a more polished and reliable smartphone experience.
