Anticipating the Next Wave: Rumored Upgrades for the iPhone 18 Pro Series

Thu, Jul 2, 2026(1h ago)Technology

As Apple gears up for its 2026 flagship launch, early reports surrounding the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max suggest a shift toward internal refinement rather than a major aesthetic overhaul. While the display sizes are expected to remain steady at 6.3 and 6.9 inches, users can look forward to a more streamlined aesthetic, headlined by a potentially smaller Dynamic Island made possible by under-display Face ID technology. Durability and style also seem to be a priority, with rumors pointing toward a refined rear glass finish, improved Ceramic Shield, and the introduction of a striking new red colorway. Additionally, the Pro Max model may see a slight increase in thickness, likely to accommodate a larger battery for enhanced longevity.

Under the hood, the performance gains are expected to be substantial, led by the transition to the A20 Pro chip built on TSMC’s advanced 2nm process. Photography enthusiasts have plenty to be excited about as well, with whispers of a variable aperture for the main 48MP camera, which would offer DSLR-like control over depth of field and lighting. Connectivity is also getting a boost via a new in-house C2 modem, while display efficiency is set to improve with LTPO+ technology. To round out the experience, Apple is reportedly simplifying the Camera Control button for more intuitive usage, as the company prepares for an anticipated September 2026 debut.
