India Probes Tata Electronics Data Breach Involving Future iPhone Secrets
The Indian government has officially launched an investigation into a significant data breach at Tata Electronics, a key supplier for Apple. S. Krishnan, the secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, confirmed that the incident is currently under review by the Computer Emergency Response Team. The breach involves sensitive documents, including internal component lists and images of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro, which were illicitly uploaded to the dark web by a ransomware syndicate.
This security failure poses a serious risk to Apple’s tightly guarded supply chain logistics, revealing proprietary details that the tech giant typically keeps confidential. Beyond the iPhone 18 Pro blueprints, the leaked files reportedly contain internal information related to other industry giants, including Tesla, Qualcomm, and TSMC. In response, Tata Electronics has engaged an international consulting firm to perform a comprehensive forensic audit to assess the full extent of the damage and prevent further unauthorized disclosures.
