Samsung Galaxy S26 FE: A Tough Sell Against Its Own Siblings
The recently launched Samsung Galaxy S26 FE carries a price tag of Dh3,059 in the UAE, a significant jump that complicates its position as the "sensible" flagship alternative. While it maintains the series' reputation for high-quality displays and a robust seven-year software support window, it suffers from a lack of meaningful hardware upgrades compared to last year's model. With the same camera sensors, battery, and charging speeds, the inclusion of a 3nm Exynos 2500 chip is the only notable improvement. Unfortunately, due to rising global memory costs, the entry-level 128GB version has been scrapped, forcing consumers into a more expensive 256GB base model that offers little justification for the price hike.
The real challenge for the S26 FE is its awkward pricing relative to the rest of Samsung’s lineup. Retailers are already listing the standard Galaxy S26 for only about Dh200 more, which grants users superior RAM and the newer 2nm processor. Conversely, those looking to save money can pick up the S25 FE for roughly Dh600 less, losing almost nothing in day-to-day performance. Unless you prioritize the slightly larger screen and longer-term processing headroom for future AI updates, the S26 FE currently occupies a difficult middle ground. Given that FE models typically see sharp price drops shortly after release, most buyers would be better off waiting for a discount or opting for the premium standard S26.
