Fire Breaks Out Near Tehran Luxury Hotel, Prompting Emergency Evacuation

Mon, Jul 27, 2026(1h ago)World

A significant fire broke out in Iran’s capital on Monday, sending plumes of thick smoke billowing over a five-star hotel in Tehran and forcing an immediate evacuation of guests. Witnesses at the scene described seeing dark, heavy smoke clouds rising around the structure, while flames could be seen leaping from a nearby building. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the area, and state media reported that hotel staff prioritized the safety of those inside by clearing the premises while firefighters worked to contain the blaze.

According to Tehran fire department spokesperson Jalal Maleki, the fire originated in a storage annex where the hotel kept supplies such as bedding and food products. Fortunately, officials have confirmed that there were no injuries reported during the incident, and the situation is currently under control. While the investigation into the exact cause is ongoing, experts note that such fires are relatively common in Iran, particularly in aging infrastructure built in the mid-20th century, where technical faults often lead to safety hazards during the hot summer season.
