Kuwaiti Authorities Bust Undercover E-Cigarette Scheme Targeting Students
Kuwaiti security forces have apprehended three individuals involved in a deceptive scheme to sell e-cigarettes to secondary school students. The suspects operated out of a local grocery store, where they meticulously hid vaping products inside food packaging to bypass parental supervision. Following a tip-off regarding the rising prevalence of e-cigarettes among students, the Capital Governorate Criminal Investigation Department launched a sting operation that culminated in the arrest of the trio as they were in the midst of preparing and delivering these illicit orders.
The suspects, who confessed to the operation, utilized their grocery store as a front to distribute the items for profit, with one individual specifically tasked with deliveries. In response, authorities have confiscated the illegal merchandise and initiated formal legal proceedings against those involved. The Ministry of Interior has used this incident to urge parents to remain vigilant regarding their children's purchases and orders, emphasizing that safeguarding youth from such predatory practices requires a collaborative effort between law enforcement and families. Under Kuwaiti law, the sale or distribution of tobacco products to anyone under the age of 21 remains strictly prohibited.
