According to wildfire researcher Jean-Baptiste Filippi, these clouds develop as extreme heat forces water vapor to condense into massive columns, generating updrafts reaching speeds of up to 150 kilometers per hour. Although these atmospheric phenomena are somewhat familiar to experts in regions like Australia, California, and Portugal, they represent a frightening new reality for France, largely driven by the increasing frequency of heatwaves linked to climate change.
