Shots Fired Outside US Consulate in Toronto for Second Time This Year

Tue, Jul 28, 2026(45d ago)World

Local authorities in Toronto are investigating yet another security breach at the U.S. consulate after reports of gunfire erupted early Monday morning. Police were alerted when officers nearby heard shots being fired; they quickly cordoned off the area and discovered shell casings at the scene. While a white sedan was spotted speeding away from the location, officials confirmed that no injuries occurred during the incident, and they have yet to identify any suspects involved.

This unsettling event marks the second time the diplomatic facility has been targeted in just four months. Back in March, the consulate was struck by gunfire in a deliberate "national security incident" that led to the arrests of two teenagers in June. Police are currently analyzing whether this latest shooting is connected to a string of similar attacks in the city, including an incident at a local synagogue earlier this year. In response to the latest developments, U.S. consulate officials issued a statement thanking local police for their swift action and continued protection.
