Saudi Arabia Introduces 'New Muslim' Card for Converts

Tue, Jul 28, 2026(1h ago)World

Saudi Arabia has officially rolled out a "New Muslim" card service designed to streamline the conversion process for those embracing Islam within the Kingdom. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, this digital initiative automates the formal declaration of faith. By integrating with the Tawakkalna app and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the card becomes instantly available to users upon approval. Each card features a secure QR code for verification, which helps the government gather accurate data and statistics to improve future planning and administrative support for the community.

This digital update is part of a broader push by the Kingdom to modernize services for Muslims, following in the footsteps of successful projects like the Nusuk platform and the Pilgrim Experience Programme. Similar to how the Makkah Route initiative simplifies travel logistics for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims through a unified digital interface, this new card system aims to provide a seamless experience for new converts. By prioritizing technological integration—ranging from multi-entry visa options to digital documentation—Saudi Arabia continues to enhance its support for both residents and international visitors engaging with Islamic faith and heritage.
