Saudi Arabia Recalls Ginseng Coffee and Chocolate Over Safety Concerns

Thu, Aug 6, 2026(1h ago)World

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has officially ordered a nationwide recall of specific coffee and dark chocolate products infused with ginseng. The action follows the discovery of Nortadalafil within these items, a substance that poses significant health risks, especially to consumers managing chronic medical conditions. The recall specifically targets 100g sachets from the brands Parsa Coffee, Parsa Choco, and Bintan SKY.

Authorities are strongly advising the public to cease consumption of these products immediately and to discard any remaining inventory. In addition to the product recall, the SFDA has launched legal proceedings against the importing firms involved. The agency also issued a stern reminder to businesses regarding the strictness of the Kingdom’s Food Law, noting that violations can lead to severe penalties, including fines reaching 10 million Saudi riyals and potential prison sentences of up to a decade.
