European Airspace Hit by Wave of Bomb Hoaxes
European aviation faced a series of security scares on November 5, as multiple airlines were forced to divert flights and execute emergency landings due to bomb threats. This disturbing pattern followed a similar wave of incidents just two days earlier. Among the affected aircraft was an Airbus A320 traveling from Dublin to Rome, which was diverted to an air base in northern France. French authorities promptly scrambled fighter jets to escort the plane, ensuring all 151 passengers and six crew members were safely evacuated while specialized teams conducted a thorough sweep of the vessel.
The disruption rippled across the continent, affecting various carriers including Finnair, which dealt with threats on two separate flights headed for Rome and Vienna. Meanwhile, a Polish LOT flight arriving in Brussels and three additional planes landing in Bulgaria were also subject to emergency protocols following suspicious reports. Despite the widespread panic and the deployment of military escorts, investigators confirmed that no explosives were discovered during any of the inspections. Thankfully, all affected flights managed to land safely, allowing authorities to shift their focus toward investigating the source of these persistent and disruptive hoaxes.
