A surge in regional tensions has led to a violent escalation, with an attack by Houthi rebels in southern Saudi Arabia leaving 11 civilians injured. According to the Riyadh-led coalition, the strike in the Najran border region resulted in the highest casualty count seen in the kingdom in over four years. The victims included a diverse group of residents, comprising seven Saudi nationals, two Egyptians, one Yemeni, and one Pakistani.

This latest act of aggression comes amidst a broader pattern of instability, as the Iran-backed group intensifies its military campaigns against both Saudi targets and the internationally recognized Yemeni government. Earlier on the same day, the rebels reportedly carried out drone and missile strikes that claimed the lives of 58 government soldiers in central and eastern Yemen. With the fragile 2022 truce now completely abandoned, the conflict continues to deteriorate, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian crisis that has gripped the region for over a decade.
