A Delhi district court has remanded three individuals to two days of police custody following the tragic collapse of a five-storey building in Satya Niketan on September 6, which claimed the lives of seven people. The suspects, identified as building owner’s son Mahesh Gupta, contractor Sanoj Kumar, and paying guest (PG) operator Sudhanshu, were brought before the Patiala House Court as investigators push to uncover the circumstances surrounding the structural failure. Authorities had initially requested a three-day remand to facilitate further questioning and to track down another PG operator, Shubham Tyagi, who remains at large.

The court proceedings took a procedural turn when the defense counsel for Sudhanshu successfully requested a closed-door session. Arguing that the intense public scrutiny was evolving into a "media trial," the legal team moved to exclude press presence, a request the presiding judge granted. Meanwhile, legal action continues against other figures associated with the property; the parents of the building owner, Hariram and Urmila Gupta, have already been placed in judicial custody following their late-night arrest shortly after the disaster occurred.
