Kerala’s KSRTC Launches Airline-Style Luxury Bus Service Between Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi

Thu, Sep 10, 2026(1h ago)World

The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is redefining public transit by rolling out a premium bus service that feels more like a business-class flight than a standard road trip. Operating between Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, these state-of-the-art coaches are equipped with premium leather seating, personal entertainment systems, high-speed Wi-Fi, and convenient charging stations. To elevate the experience further, passengers are provided with refreshments and assisted by an onboard hostess, while a dedicated washroom ensures comfort throughout the 227-km journey. At a fare of just ₹505, the initiative aims to prove that high-end travel comfort does not have to come with an exorbitant price tag.

This innovative service is part of a broader evolution within Kerala’s transport sector, which is shifting its focus from basic utility to a customer-centric travel experience. Beyond the luxury buses, KSRTC has been busy integrating modern solutions like real-time tracking, digital ticketing, and specialized rural connectivity programs. These efforts are complemented by the state's growing investment in tourism, ranging from city-tour double-decker buses to scenic water taxis in Kochi. By prioritizing both comfort and accessibility, Kerala is successfully transforming its public transport network into a sophisticated system that caters to both daily commuters and curious tourists.
