The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party reported that all three sisters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan—Aleema Khan, Dr. Uzma Khan, and Noreen Khan—were taken into custody by Punjab police in Lahore. According to PTI spokesperson Zulfi Bukhari, the arrests occurred during a raid at Aleema Khan’s residence, which also involved the detention of family members and children. While the children were eventually released, officials confirmed that the three women have been transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail. Authorities issued 30-day detention orders under the Maintenance of Public Order law, though the Punjab police have yet to provide an official comment on the operation.

The crackdown follows the PTI’s announcement of a planned protest scheduled for September 27. The government has condemned the upcoming demonstration, with Information Minister Attaullah Tarar labeling the protest illegal and vowing that the state will prevent any efforts to obstruct roads or disrupt public life. Imran Khan, who has been incarcerated since 2023 on corruption charges he vehemently denies, remains a central figure in this ongoing standoff. His imprisonment follows his ouster as prime minister in 2022, a political exit triggered by a no-confidence vote amid deepening tensions with the nation's military leadership.
