Massive Expansion at Al Maktoum Airport to Create 120,000 Jobs
Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport is undergoing a monumental transformation, marking significant progress in its mission to become the world’s premier aviation hub. With over 10 million man-hours logged in the last 15 months, the project has already seen the completion of vital runway infrastructure and the laying of thousands of foundation piles. As the development enters its next high-intensity phase, the current on-site workforce of 9,000 is projected to explode to 120,000, signaling a massive influx of job opportunities across diverse sectors. Once finished, the facility will boast five parallel runways and an annual capacity of 260 million passengers, cementing Dubai’s status as a global leader in trade and logistics.
To sustain this rapid momentum, officials have announced that contracts valued at more than Dh55 billion are set to be awarded by the end of the year. These upcoming packages will cover everything from the construction of new passenger terminals and concourses to the implementation of advanced baggage handling and automated people mover systems. Beyond this ambitious flagship project, Dubai is also investing heavily in its existing infrastructure, allocating Dh16 billion to modernize Dubai International Airport. This comprehensive strategy ensures that the city’s aviation sector remains at the forefront of global travel, seamlessly balancing immediate capacity upgrades with long-term visionary growth.
