Samsung Takes Shots at Apple Over New iPhone Duo Launch

Thu, Sep 10, 2026(3h ago)Technology

The long-standing tech rivalry between Samsung and Apple reached new heights on social media during Apple’s recent "Surprise and Shine" event. As Apple rolled out the iPhone 18 Pro and its highly anticipated foldable, the iPhone Duo, the Samsung Mobile US team wasted no time firing off a series of stinging critiques on X. From mocking the stagnant design of the iPhone 18 Pro to calling the iPhone Duo a late attempt at "reheating leftovers," Samsung made it clear they believe Apple is simply playing catch-up to the foldable technology they pioneered back in 2019.

The jabs didn't stop at hardware, as Samsung even looped in Duolingo to mock Apple’s naming conventions, leading to a playful but sharp digital back-and-forth between the brands. Samsung’s social media accounts—including their Canadian division—continued the onslaught, comparing Apple’s new features to everything from a "Sims sequel" to a repetitive "Groundhog Day" loop. By framing Apple’s innovation as unoriginal, Samsung leaned into its history of aggressive marketing, reminding consumers that while Apple may be making waves with the Duo, they are arguably trailing years behind the foldable innovations already established by the Galaxy ecosystem.
