Unexpected Rainfall Brings Brief Respite to Sharjah Amid Peak Summer Heat

Sun, Jul 26, 2026(45d ago)UAE

Residents in parts of Sharjah, including Al Dhaid and Sohailah, were treated to a surprising downpour this afternoon, offering a welcome break from the relentless UAE summer heat. As strong winds swept through the area around 4pm, local weather observers at the Storm Centre captured footage of the rain, providing a refreshing contrast to the typical arid conditions expected during this time of year.

The UAE is currently in the grip of 'Jamrat Al Qayth,' a 40-day window stretching from July 3 to August 10 that marks the most intense phase of the summer. With coastal temperatures frequently hitting 43°C and inland desert regions soaring past 46°C, such precipitation remains a rare and much-appreciated phenomenon. While the country is historically at its driest during this period, these sudden showers serve as a reminder of the unpredictable and unique climate patterns that occasionally manifest across the Arabian Peninsula.
