Russian Drone Strike on Cargo Vessel Leaves One Dead
A Russian drone strike targeting a Panama-flagged cargo ship bound for Ukraine has resulted in the death of an Egyptian crew member, according to Ukrainian officials. The vessel, identified as the Victress, suffered severe structural damage after being hit, forcing the remaining eight sailors—including nationals from India and Turkey—to abandon the ship on a life raft. Ukrainian authorities have condemned the attack as a blatant violation of international maritime law, noting that the strike rendered the vessel completely unseaworthy.
Beyond the maritime assault, the conflict continues to intensify on land, with Russian forces launching a wave of attacks across various Ukrainian regions. Deadly missile and drone strikes in Odesa and Zaporizhzhia claimed the lives of two more civilians and left several others injured, including a woman trapped in a burning home. Meanwhile, the hostilities have spilled over into Russian territory, as Moscow briefly suspended operations at its major airports due to a massive overnight influx of Ukrainian drones, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing regional violence.
