Hamas and the Board of Peace Reach Framework for Gaza Disarmament

Fri, Jul 31, 2026(3h ago)World

Hamas has officially signaled its agreement to a comprehensive roadmap aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in Gaza. A pivotal component of this arrangement involves the group's disarmament, a long-standing obstacle in previous ceasefire efforts. Under this new plan, a specialized National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), established by the Board of Peace, will take charge of overseeing the storage of weapons and ensuring a phased transition of authority. Hamas officials have emphasized that these concessions are aimed at protecting the civilian population from further displacement and violence, noting that an independent committee, rather than Israeli forces, will manage the disarmament process.

The success of this initiative now hinges on its execution, with the Board of Peace and international mediators shifting their focus toward strict implementation and verification. Donald Trump outlined that the roadmap involves a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces, which will occur in tandem with the decommissioning of weaponry and the establishment of an international stabilization force alongside a new Palestinian police presence. While diplomatic sources insist that there will be "no exceptions" regarding the removal of tunnels and production facilities, the situation remains delicate. As mediators prepare to meet in Cairo to refine the next phases, the international community remains cautiously optimistic that this structured approach will finally lead to a sustainable and secure future for Gaza.
