Kuwait Reports Material Damage Following Drone Interceptions

Fri, Jul 31, 2026(45d ago)World

Kuwait’s Ministry of Defence confirmed on Friday that its military successfully intercepted and downed several hostile drones that entered the country's airspace earlier that morning. According to Brigadier General Saud Abdulaziz Al Otaibi, these drones were aimed at critical military and infrastructure sites. While the interceptions were successful, falling debris caused notable material damage on the ground. Fortunately, officials reported no human casualties, and the government reiterated its firm commitment to maintaining national security and protecting its sovereignty against such incursions.

The incident marks a significant escalation in regional tensions, as Iran’s military publicly claimed responsibility for the strikes. Tehran stated that the drone operation was a direct retaliation for a recent US attack on Qeshm Island, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of three civilians. Iranian forces claimed they specifically targeted key facilities at the Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base, including satellite communication systems and aircraft shelters. As of now, the US Central Command has not released an official statement regarding the alleged strikes, and the situation remains fluid following a brief lull in hostilities.
