Kuwait Launches Major Security Crackdown in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh

Sat, Aug 1, 2026(2h ago)World

Kuwaiti authorities recently executed a comprehensive security sweep in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area, leading to the arrest of 1,253 individuals for various residency and labor law violations. Led by Undersecretary Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wuhaib, the operation involved a collaborative effort between multiple government agencies to restore public order. Among those detained were mothers and their children, all of whom have been processed and referred to the appropriate legal authorities for further action.

Beyond the arrests, the campaign targeted systemic issues within the district, including the removal of abandoned vehicles, the demolition of dilapidated structures, and the closure of hundreds of illegal residential power connections. Several ministries, including Commerce, Health, and Public Works, participated in the crackdown, resulting in hundreds of violation notices issued for environmental, food safety, and labor code infractions. The Ministry of Interior has signaled that these efforts are part of a broader, ongoing initiative to eliminate illegal activities across Kuwait, ensuring that all residents adhere to the law to improve overall safety and community standards.
