Saudi Arabia Intercepts Missiles Over Riyadh, Leaving One Injured
Saudi authorities confirmed that two ballistic missiles were intercepted and destroyed over Riyadh late Thursday night. According to the Saudi Civil Defence, the interception resulted in falling debris that damaged a local residence and a vehicle, while one citizen sustained injuries during the incident. Officials stated that standard safety protocols were immediately initiated, and temporary security warnings issued for Riyadh, Kharj, and Najran were lifted shortly after the threat was neutralized.
The attack marks another escalation in the ongoing regional conflict involving Houthi forces, who have increasingly targeted Saudi territory and infrastructure. This surge in aggression follows the collapse of a 2022 truce, which has led to a renewed cycle of maritime blockades, aerial strikes, and military posturing between the warring factions. Since the Yemeni civil war began in 2014, these cross-border hostilities have remained a significant security challenge for the kingdom, frequently threatening both regional stability and the country's long-term economic development goals.
