Kuwaiti Authorities Arrest Doctor for Running Illegal Abortion Clinic

Thu, Aug 6, 2026(45d ago)World

An Egyptian gynaecologist living in Kuwait has been taken into police custody following allegations that he was performing illegal abortions and supplying prohibited medication for profit. Investigations revealed that the doctor operated out of his private clinic, charging patients either through bank transfers or cash for his illicit services. Acting on a tip-off, the General Department of Criminal Investigation launched a sting operation, successfully catching the suspect in the act as he attempted to sell abortion pills during a pre-arranged meeting.

Following his arrest, law enforcement officials searched the doctor's residence, where they discovered a stash of 49 abortion pills alongside 115 psychotropic substances. Under questioning, the suspect admitted to the crimes, confirming that he had been sourcing the restricted medication from outside the country. The doctor and the confiscated materials have since been handed over to the public prosecutor’s office to face further legal proceedings.
